Alina Azhar, the young Pakistani who recently won the Diana Award for her humanitarian and fund raising efforts, has now adopted an Orphange School. The school has been given the name of “Little Steps by Aasra.”
The school provides free education to almost 100 children in Lahore, and also serves as an orphanage for 7 children. The education is totally free of cost, and the syllabus, books, uniforms and stationary are provided by her NGO - Aasra. Apart from regular education, the school emphasises on education about Child Abuse and Mental Health. Seminars on these issues are a part of the school’s time table and Aasra’s motivational speaker or teachers of the school lecture the students about these issues and how to protect themselves.
Sports, Arts and Tree Plantation drives are also held for the children not only as activities, but the importance of climate change, physical activity are taught through these activities. Quranic lessons & character building classes are held regularly for the children at the school.
Occasions such as Milaad, Independence Day, Defence Day, and other important events are celebrated at the school to raise awareness among the children about our culture & tradition.
