The growing environmental and climatic changes have grown consciousness among people around the world. Some national/international designers have also tried to play their part as a responsible citizen by producing and working more on sustainable fashion. As per research fast fashion is one of the major reasons for pollution and to avoid this some designers have even started campaigns to support the cause. One must be mindful while shopping. Your needs shouldn’t be misunderstood with wants. We’ve been seeing these brands all over the internet supporting the movement against fast fashion and paving the way to make this world a better place to live in.
GUCCI announced that it has gone completely carbon neutral at the Milan Fashion Week. The fashion show as a whole looked like a global strike against pollution caused by fast fashion. The decorum was set as a rain forest which showed more importance of the cleaner and greener environment. PRADA at the Milan fashion week showcased basic staples that one would want to have in their wardrobe for a decade and never get tired of! Prada stated
“The person should be more important than the clothes”.
VERSACE stole the show by giving the honor to JLO as a showstopper. The dress she wore was long and well draped with bamboo motifs on it. The dress was cut through the knee. The bamboo motif was indicating towards the amazon forest which is burning. Amazon forest provides the 30% of oxygen.
Adding our local brands such as GENERATIONS & SAPPHIRE have also initiated new ideas to avoid pollution and combat climatic changes.
GENERATIONS last campaign which was named as SOHNI DHARTI which literal meaning is beautiful earth was based on the deforestation and scarcity of water was a hit in industry. They have launched a new campaign which is LIFAFA URRA for a free plastic nation. The campaign shoot has a shopping back which is seen hung from a tree, in the water. These bags are not biodegradable. They have screwed our natural habitat as well as our drainage systems and ecosystems.
SAPPHIRE’s latest campaign which was launched on Pakistan day had a very great impact. As Pakistan is going plastic free slowly and we all are in awe of these baby steps to make this world better for living, Sapphire introduced their latest hand bags with infused seed which means that upon throwing that bag or planting it it’s either you plant a tree and the material is biodegradable so you do not harm/ pollute the environment.
LEVI’S as a responsible and famous brand Levi’s came forth to have a sustainable fashion line. Levi’s just launched a new method for farmers to grow their cotton plants in a whole different way without wasting water. As per news, by 2025 this country will be the scarcest country with water so the initiative is a good one.
