Tell us something about your struggle as a model?
Fortunately, I didn’t have to struggle in this industry. Winning the crown helped me carved my own path. Very early, I understood this industry and created my own team who directly worked with the designers and organizers. I never worked under any agency. Freelancing was the best way to work on my own terms and conditions.
One has to work real hard, harder than being under an agency, to be where one wants to be, however, it is up to you how you want to achieve it. For me everything must be achieved without losing your ethics and self-respect. Being an extremely professional girl, I gained all the respect, name and fame through sheer honesty, humbleness and extreme hard work.
Why did you move from your country to Dubai?
I walked most of the international ramps in Europe and US. Travelling from Hong Kong to Europe was way too time consuming. Hence, moving to Dubai was purely on the basis of saving travel time and being more reachable to Europe and India. Being here I can be at work and with family in India conveniently. And, after a certain period of time a change always is for good.
Do you think there are better opportunities for models in Dubai?
Opportunities are everywhere, it depends on what you are looking for. One cannot compare Europe to Dubai, however, one can start with local shows and slowly move towards internationals. I have walked the top most international ramps around the globe and the best indeed were from Southern and Northern Europe. There is a great potential in Dubai for the fashion industry, it has its own design district that clearly states how large and creative fashion field is in here. I am sure EXPO 2020 will open more doors of opportunities for the industry and take it to the next level.
Tell us something about your fitness regime?
I follow a very disciplined life and a healthy routine. Being in the glamour industry, I have to be extra careful with my diet and physical appearance. Eating mindfully and healthy keeps me away from consuming unwanted toxics. I mostly eat home cooked food full of richness and vitamins. Portion of food is another important factor hence, I never over indulge or eat incorrect. I am very regular with my Pilates, cardio, resistance training and yoga. If I can’t do any of these any day I go for long walks. My physical fitness can be summed up as 5/6 days a week.
What's your skin and hair care regime?
I have been in the beauty business for a while now. Since last many years I have been following my mother’s advice who herself takes extreme good care of her skin. Thanks to her that I learnt the importance of it and how. I blindly follow her beauty tips and use the homemade face packs, scrubs and natural cleansing techniques to keep my skin healthy and hydrated. I stay away from products containing chemicals and prefer using natural products like coconut oil, rose water and yoghurt. Just like her, I make sure I drink lots of water and coconut water as much as possible. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables, adding spices like turmeric in diet helps boosts immunity and rejuvenates the skin cells.
Same goes for my hair too, basically regularly oiling my hair with different blends of oils, using hair mask and right products for cleansing and conditioning keeps my hair strong and healthy. I prefer using organic or chemical free products.
Do you think age matters in Modeling career?
Age doesn’t matter in any field for that matter. World has changed and so has the thought process. People see your work and get inspired. If you are a young achiever, they feel proud of you and if you are a little older you become an inspiration. It is not about the age, what matters is the work you have done, how have you achieved it and how many lives have you influenced or affected. What matters is your passion for your work and the pride you hold towards it. One cannot be in the highest self of achieving if under lower vibrations. One has to rise above a certain mindset to become a role model.
