Tell us something about yourself?
This is Harshad Gadhvi, also known as Jimmy in fashion fraternity, I’m basically from India, working in Thailand in fashion since 8 years.
In some countries people still don’t get the definition of “STYLIST” how would you explain it and how does stylists job differentiate from a make-up artist?
Stylist play huge role in any fashion projects, from runway to campaign, look book , editorials or fashion ads, stylist gives shape to whole project, from deciding model hair n make looks to her posing, accessories, clothes combinations, idea of shooting style, stylist plays equal role as photographer for the project.
Don’t you think being a stylist is restricted to a narrower job opportunity?
No not at all, as I said earlier stylist is as important as photographer or model for job, if you see worldwide fashion weeks, campaign, editorials, each project required stylist, stylist plays huge important role in fashion industry. Also, there is a lot of work happening all over the world, one needs to move out and look for opportunities
What skills are required to be the best stylist?
Commitment or dedication is the first step, time management is extremely important as stylists need to meet the deadlines, hard work with persistency, lots of research over recent fashion and something new which can be in trend and keep your eyes open anything can inspire you in world.
What makes Harshad Ghadvi different from other stylists?
All stylist have their own style, let’s say my major high fashion and art work inspirations comes from paintings, I love to work on paintings, for commercial work for me street is real runway, I love to observe people walking on street , whatever happening today in world u will get to see on street.
How you made your ways in to international market?
I have been super-duper lucky in my career, the day I decided I want to work internationally, I moved to Thailand and I got the opportunity to work with British photographer tom hoops, and his vision made my work looks way beyond I have imagine. his work inspired me lot indeed.
How difficult is to manage a personal life for a stylist?
we all have one life only, we all must do what we love, I do what I love , I love my work, my work is itself is my personal life, I don’t have any other life apart from work, no flaunting but I can work 24/7, (Laughed Out Louder.)
Have you worked with Pakistani brands? If yes, which one’s?
Many brands mostly for lawn and couture like: “Sania Maskatia, Elan , Sapphire , Gul Ahmed, Nishat , Zara Sha Jahan etc.” When I recall the Pakistani brands, I have worked for I have a feeling of Wow!
