Cheena Chhapra
Now she is looking towards the future which is Leather. This time she has brought Parsi Gara Embroidery on Leather as her new addition to her fashion line in which she hopes can give a new direction to her abilities.
“Size Does Not Matter” as Cheena Chhapra the plus size designer says. A person who is full of life works and designs for the betterment of the people. Her belief is that every woman has a right to look beautiful no matter the caste, age, size or colour.
First of all, plus-size women can look good if they are given the proper styling and clothes. Plus-Size people have been reduced to a farcically small space, where they keep finding unrealistic angles to look thin or are forced into wearing blacks and vertical stripes.
We don’t find the body size diversity in local designers and that’s why this designer is really special. She has made it her goal to bring back the dying art of Traditional Block Prints, Phulkari and Parsi Gara Embroidery. All these art forms are at least 500 years old, some would say more.
She was given the opportunity to celebrate the 70th Independence of Pakistan at London during the 2017 Pakistan Fashion Week held at The Lancaster House. It was received very positively, but the highlight was during the 2018 Pakistan Fashion Week in Karachi that was taken by a storm when she introduced Plus-Size models for the first time on the cat walk. Not only were they beautiful in size but graceful in age as well.
It was streamed live by her friends and family and internationally wise she was given so much appraise that they call her line "Unique" and considered the models "The Real Women of FPW 2018."
She was the only Pakistani Designer to participate in Moscow, Russia for their 70th Independence Anniversary by showcasing a colorful expression of Pakistan-Russia Friendship with a fashion show.
She has started a foundation by the name of "Cheena Chhapra Foundation (CCF)" and her motto is "Help anyone & everyone!" She believes in helping the children and women who are suffering from Diabetes as well as Hearing Impairment. She helps in setting up small businesses like Snack Stalls and Fruit Carts for the needy by the help of her which she calls her "Sanity."
